Summary of As You Like It

As You Like It is one of William Shakespeare’s plays, thought to have been written in the late 16th or early 17th century. The story centers around Rosalind, the daughter of a Duke who has been exiled. To escape her uncle, the usurping Duke Frederick, she runs away to the Forest of Arden with her cousin Celia and the court jester, Touchstone. In the forest, Rosalind disguises herself as a man, and meets Orlando, a young nobleman whom she has fallen in love with. Through a series of comic events, the characters ultimately find love and are reconciled, with Rosalind being reunited with her father. The play is known for its wit, humor, pastoral setting and its exploration of themes such as love, identity, and nature.
